Toula's, Agni Bay

I painted Toula’s in Agni Bay in the early evening sun of August 2025. Settling myself on their jetty with my 14 x 20” sketchbook and Schmincke watercolours, I began to sketch the scene in pencil as guests arrived on boats for dinner. While my son Freddie swam beside me in the sea, I added washes of colour to capture the vibrant atmosphere of the restaurant at the water’s edge.

Loose, fluid brushstrokes bring to life the play of light on the bay, the colourful chairs, lush greenery, and the lively arrival of diners. This painting radiates the warmth, joy, and timeless charm of summer evenings in Corfu. When I left the restaurant that evening, I posted the finished painting on Instagram and it sold immediately to a lady who had been following my painting escapades. It just goes to show how popular these restaurants are and how much people love having a memento of them in their homes.
