Artist Notes

I painted Taverna Nikolas on the penultimate day of my holiday in early September 2025. Arriving unannounced, I borrowed a plastic chair from the beach and set myself up on the jetty. At first the restaurant was quiet, but soon it began to fill with guests, many arriving by boat. Though I was clearly in the way, everyone was warm and welcoming.

As I sketched the scene in watercolours, the delightful owner, Perikles, came over to introduce himself. His taverna has been painted many times over the years (the walls inside are covered with press articles and artworks) yet he seemed genuinely happy for me to add to that tradition. After I finished painting, he treated me to a delicious lunch.

This joyful scene is one of my favourites, a painting full of sunlight and life that reminds me of a wonderful day by the sea.

  • Original Piece

    The 1 of 1 original hand painted and signed painting.

  • Limited Edition

    My limited editions are limited to 100 of each size (A2,A1) that will ever be sold. Each limited edition comes hand signed and numbered. Limited editions also come on a high quality 310GSM paper.

  • Open Edition

    My A3 size open editions are half the size of my limited editions and will not be signed or numbered. They are printed on 300GSM paper. Open editions are not limited to a set number of prints and therefore do not hold the same value as a limited edition print.
