Kouloura Taverna

When I asked my Instagram followers which tavernas I should paint in Corfu, Kouloura Taverna was high on the list. Having never visited before, I arrived and introduced myself to the owners. They weren’t familiar with my work but kindly gestured to the other side of the harbour, showing me a bench where I could paint.

It was a boiling hot day, and I watched diners from afar as boats sped past me. When the painting was finished, the owners were delighted. I then enjoyed a fantastic lunch of fresh sardines and a Greek salad before heading back to my son Freddie, who had spent the day with a lovely Greek babysitter.

As soon as I posted the finished painting on Instagram, it sold… while I was still in Corfu! Clearly, it is a much-loved restaurant, and I can understand why.
