It quickly became a firm favourite, and I remember many long, lazy family lunches there. In August 2025 I returned on my own to paint the restaurant, and as soon as I sat down I was amazed by how many diners approached me to introduce themselves. Several told me they had collected my Corfu prints over the years, and even commissioned me to paint their homes during lockdown.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eClearly Eucalyptus is a much-loved spot for many Corfu lovers who also happen to collect my work. It had been recommended as a fantastic dinner spot, so I arrived in the early evening with my son Freddie and set up my little painting chair on the other side of the road whilst Freddie played behind me on the beach. The restaurant staff were incredibly friendly and wonderfully attentive to Freddie as I painted. Arriving unannounced, I borrowed a plastic chair from the beach and set myself up on the jetty. At first the restaurant was quiet, but soon it began to fill with guests, many arriving by boat. Though I was clearly in the way, everyone was warm and welcoming.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs I sketched the scene in watercolours, the delightful owner, Perikles, came over to introduce himself. His taverna has been painted many times over the years (the walls inside are covered with press articles and artworks) yet he seemed genuinely happy for me to add to that tradition. Nikos, the owner, had already heard from one of his customers that I was in Corfu painting local restaurants and has been told I might stop by. Armed with my sketchbook and paints, I arrived unannounced at noon on a glorious sunny day.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA chair, table, and umbrella were immediately carried out onto the jetty for me, and I was brought a constant supply of water and ice as I painted guests enjoying lunch. When I finished, Nikos insisted on treating me to lunch and later that evening I returned with my son Freddie for an Aperol Spritz and the best Kleftiko I have ever eaten.
